Why yes, we are putting grass down in our garden and around our vegetables. This helps hold moisture in and helps keep the weeds at bay. Another way to use your grass clipping besides putting some in your compost!

Keeping warm!
This pile plus another trailer load of wood are to dry out over the summer for heating our house in the winter in one of our three fireplaces. This helps us cut down on using our furnace to heat our house and saves on our power bill!

A Pinch of That...
Do you grow your own herbs? We grow Basil, Cilantro, Parley, and Oregano currently. Last night I made my yummy Orzo Salad with fresh Basil from our garden.
Orzo Salad
1 package of Orzo cook according to instructions
some spinach leaves chopped
some basil leaves chopped
3-4 tomatoes diced
1/2-3/4 cup Feta cheese

You Got Something on Your Chin
We used to go through paper towels like crazy. I was constantly buying them and we were constantly filling up our trash can with them. To cut down on our use of paper towels, I made enough cloth napkins for our family of 4 to last us about 2 or 3 weeks before I need to wash them all. I have noticed we hardly use any paper towels, we save from buying paper towels, and we are not filling the landfill with them!

Compost!
I am a big fan of recycling and what better way to recycle than to compost! There are many types of composters out there. Ours is a tumbler. I can't wait to see how well my garden and plants do with our home brewed compost!

Taking Advantage of the Heat
I love my clothes line. Not only am I saving on my power bill by not using my dryer, but my clothes smell fresh and actually seem to dry faster. I am sure there is something in there too about not using my dryer and leaving less of a carbon footprint. I am still trying to figure that whole "carbon footprint" thing out.
